Many forget that when David was anointed King, the tribes of Israel did not acknowledge his anointing at first. A bitter civil war occurred among the children of Israel.
Presently, there are tens of thousands of denominations in Christianity. Is it possible that we may be living in the sin of tribalism? Tribalism creates an us-them mentality. It does not walk in the Spirit of the Lord. In fact, it grieves the Holy Spirit.
How do we counteract this mystery…the answer may be found in the little known Biblical Character: Ishbosheth
“Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are bone of your flesh…and King David made a covenant with them…and they anointed David king over Israel.” 2 Samuel 5:1-3.
