Christmas, the light of the world comes to earth. Hanukkah, God’s people refusing to assimilate. Without the birth of Jesus, the full understanding of Hanukkah’s prophetic message is missed. Without the lessons of Hanukkah, Christmas can become a mere cultural holiday.

This week, Pastor David teaches how these two holidays are not independent from each other but are rather dependent to each other. Both of these celebrations work off of each other. The Light of the World has come to earth, but He calls us to stand out, to not allow the greater culture to demean the message of Christmas. Do not assimilate. Do not allow culture to hijack the message of the birth of the Savior.

“Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.” John 10:22-25.
