Bethany, a small poor village two miles in the hills outside of Jerusalem. It is a “place of sorrow.” It is a place where the poor live; it is the place of tombs and lepers. But, it is also the place Lazraus is raised from the dead, it is the place Simon the Leper is healed. It is the place that Jesus chooses to ascend into heaven to His Father.

Do you have a Bethany place in your life. The power of Jesus’ ascension to heaven is to release the complete work of the Gospel. Yet, Mary clings to Jesus and wants him to stay. Don’t be like Mary. It is time to release Jesus to the heavenly place in your life. This week, Pastor David will conclude our present sermon series – with a study of the town of Bethany. He will teach on why and how we need to allow Jesus to ascend to heaven from our place of Bethany.

“When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.” Luke 24:50-53
